A
Snapshot In Time In
Downtown Mulberry
Downtown: Mulberry has changed a lot over the years, as
have the local businesses.
Here is Mr. George T. Harned, father of Henrie Sparkman, who at one time had his' office in Mulberry in the Twiss Building (one time the Pipkin Buildling) where he was justice of the peace and judge of the small claims court.
Shown to the far right on the sidewalk is Mr. Hooker of Hooker's Department Store in front of the Post Office.
Henrie Sparkman noted her father's full left hand shirt pocket which he used for 'writing pens and pencils. If he could not remember someone's name, he would take out one of his pens and ask the person to try it. The person almost always wrote his name!"
The building to George's right is Miller's Drug Store that made the "best and only orange ice" in Mulberry, remembers Henrie Sparkman, who if fond of her growing up in this area. Her mother's family came, to this area from Georgia in 1867; her Dad came from New Jersey. She has many fond family remembrances of this area.
